TEAM STOMP MOP UP AT THE HOUSE!
TEAM STOMP MOP UP AT THE HOUSE!
It was a TEAM Stomp one two at the British Dirt Track Championships at Rye House, Hertfordshire on Sunday, with Gary Phelps taking the overall victory over his team mate and series leader Luke Coker.
As always the racing was close, fast and eventful in the Welsh Pitbikes British Dirt Track Mini Bike Championships with 14 riders on the line, things did pretty darn close, especially when Wayne Johnstone collided with the fence and crashing in front of the following pack, which caused carnage. All riders were up and back in the re run though.
Whilst the Stomp riders took the first two places it was Trevor Heath who was the quickest rider of the day taking 4 wins, but have an engine failure in race one which cost him. Heath also rode in the Dirt Track Solo class taking all 5 race wins for the Round 4 title.
Mathew Cole is getting quicker with every event and two third places in the last two races awarded him with a 4th overall ahead of Johnstone and Billy Coles in fifth and sixth respectively.
Shane Jordon had his best result to date, being consistent throughout the day and earning a very good 7th overall, whilst Andrew Walker learned a lot from his debut at Round 3 in Swindon, to take a promising 8th place overall.
Another DT Solo rider Scott Cresswell also looked good and until he had bike problems showed well taking 9th.
Ryan Jeffries was another rider to show improvement and but for a couple of none finishes could have finished higher than his 10th and rode better than his final place suggests.
Andrew Pepler recovered from a late start to end up riding well with a good final ride, whilst veteran racer Nick Pzybora showed it is never too late to race. Our Home Town Hero Winner Craig Swales enjoyed his day, and is keen to come back having improved during the day and learning lots and making new friends.
Colin Perkins started well on his debut but faded but sure made a good impression in his first time out.
Yet again a great day of racing was had by all.
Good fun had in the pits, a sunny day, a great race track now onto round 5 at Stoke on Sunday 5th August.
